MySQL 8.x for AL1 and AL2 clusters

For release 64, Qubole has introduced support for MySQL 8.x on AL1 and AL2 clusters on AWS. Customers can now migrate their custom metastore DB from MySQL 5.x to MySQL 8.x. for AL1 and AL2 clusters.

Steps to make Changes in effect

• Customers should restart all the AL1 and AL2 clusters, so they can pick new AMIs containing MySQL 8.x upgrades.

• Restarting clusters is mandatory for customers using QDS default metastore. Otherwise, the workload running on old clusters may fail after the Qubole MySQL 8.x upgrade rollout.

• Before upgrading the custom metastore to MySQL 8.x, customers should restart their clusters.

• The new ALI and AL2 AMIs are backward compatible with MySQL 5.x, so, customers should restart their clusters immediately.
